Case Study

Transfer of Stability & Positional Control System

Project Overview

Sentinel ICCS Ltd was engaged to support the transfer and relocation of the Stability & Positional Control System within a critical offshore operational environment.

The project was initiated following regulatory concerns regarding the location and resilience of the secondary control infrastructure. The existing arrangement created operational risk by positioning both primary and secondary systems within the same physical area.

The objective was to relocate and commission the secondary Stability & Positional Control System onto a new platform while maintaining continuous marine operational capability and ensuring compliance with offshore safety expectations.

Scope

Stability & Positional Control System Transfer

Challenges

01

Limited Offshore Space

The offshore environment presented significant space and infrastructure limitations requiring careful planning for equipment relocation and installation activities.

02

Continuous Operational Requirements

The Stability & Positional Control System could not be taken offline during project execution, requiring uninterrupted operational support throughout implementation.

03

Critical Infrastructure Relocation

Servers, controllers, communication hardware, and supporting control infrastructure required relocation without compromising marine operational visibility or reliability.

04

Safety & Compliance Expectations

The upgraded system arrangement needed to satisfy offshore operational safety requirements while improving resilience and redundancy capability.

Solution

Sentinel ICCS Ltd implemented a structured migration and commissioning strategy to safely relocate the Stability & Positional Control System onto a new hardware platform.

The project included detailed offshore surveys, infrastructure assessments, Factory Acceptance Testing activities, hardware relocation planning, and staged commissioning procedures designed to minimise operational risk.

A reference testing environment was used to validate system functionality and communication behaviour prior to deployment activities, ensuring the transferred control infrastructure maintained operational integrity throughout implementation.

Results

The Stability & Positional Control System was successfully transferred and commissioned onto the new infrastructure platform without disrupting offshore marine operations.

Sentinel ICCS Ltd delivered a fully operational and validated control environment while maintaining uninterrupted system availability throughout the project lifecycle.

The completed migration improved infrastructure resilience, operational reliability, and compliance alignment while supporting long-term offshore operational continuity.

Project Impact

The project strengthened offshore operational resilience by improving separation between primary and secondary control infrastructure and reducing single-point operational risk.

By successfully relocating the Stability & Positional Control System without operational disruption, Sentinel ICCS Ltd helped improve system reliability, compliance readiness, and long-term supportability across the offshore environment.
